The Byrne Story
From their first kitchen installation in Clarkston to being lead contractor on multi-million pound developments, Byrne Home Improvements have always put needs of the customer first.
Brothers-in-law Joe and James have got construction running in their blood as both of their Dads were builders - and both Dads were happy to teach their sons a thing or two by bringing them to building sites when they were kids.
Joe went on to study civil engineering but after the 2007 downturn, instead of searching through what little work there was he decided to create his own.
“We are conscious that our building site is someone’s home, it’s where we spend most of our time. A home improvement project needs to be done to the same high standards as building a bridge, but with more sensitivity and consideration”
So in 2008 Joe, and highly experienced carpenter, James launched Byrne Home Improvements with the goal of helping people create homes that are perfectly suited for modern family life - with an emphasis on open plan living, communal space and light. And to do it with sensitivity and respect for the customer who might well be living in the house whilst the work is done.
From their first project for the McPhee family in Clarkston, Joe, James and their team of 22 dedicated tradespeople have tackled everything from small landscaping projects to being the main contractor on multi-million pound developments.

Organic growth has allowed them to purchase office and yard space in Clarkston, which they plan to use to launch their newest product - a range of Garden Rooms - modernist wood and glass spaces that give families an extra room for work or play.

James and Joe are proud Dad’s themselves and live in the areas they serve. They get immense satisfaction from hearing how their home improvement projects have helped families and given them the space they need to thrive.
